currently competing at the Winter Olympics.&nbsp; Just thinking back on some of the home-grown hot rods we've
been driving over the past several weeks.&nbsp;
</b></p>

<p class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: left;">And you know what?<span style="mso-spacerun: yes">&nbsp;
</span>Without exception, it's been a surprisingly enjoyable experience.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes">&nbsp; </span>For all the gloom-and-doom that's
surrounded American manufacturers over the past year, we think these four
models have the potential to lead the way to a brighter future where "Made In
The USA" is a <i>good </i><span style="font-style:normal">thing:</span></p>

<p class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: left;"><b><a href="http://www.drivertv.com/#/ford/mustang.html">Ford Mustang</a><o:p></o:p></b></p>

<p class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: left;">It's almost scary how much this newest pony car reminds us

big difference: the 315-horsepower V-8 motor under the hood of the GT model

<p class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: left;">While most people use the phrase "reinventing the wheel"
like it's a bad thing, this is one example of how a thoughtful re-imagining of
a familiar form can end up being both comfortably nostalgic and excitingly
fresh.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes">&nbsp; </span>And speaking of excitement,
the SS model's 426-horsepower, 6.2-liter V-8 is enough to make grown men giggle

<p class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: left;">The third entry in our flag-waving line-up is perhaps our
favorite.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes">&nbsp; </span>The styling is a home run,
but here's the real surprise: The V-6-powered version is actually the one we'd
recommend, by virtue of its respectable performance, better fuel economy, and
much more livable ride quality.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes">&nbsp; </span></p>

riding.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes">&nbsp; </span>Blacked-out trim, a solo
saddle, and classic front fork gaiters make this one of the coolest Harley's
we've seen in years.</p>

<p class="MsoNormal"><b>With all the media hype surrounding Toyota's recall of
millions of vehicles to repair faulty gas pedals, you'd think the simple act of
driving one of these cars or trucks is an act that should only be undertaken by
a Hollywood leading man with the steeliest of nerves and coolest of heads.&nbsp; </b></p>

<p class="MsoNormal">Naturally, the real-life situation is a good bit less
dramatic.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes">&nbsp; </span>Of the 2.3 million cars
and trucks involved in the recall, there have been only about 60 reports of
unintended acceleration.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes">&nbsp; </span>We're not
great at math, but we know enough to figure out that that makes the odds of something like this happening to you pretty remote, despite the frenzy many reporters are trying
to whip up.</p>

<p class="MsoNormal">Still, we suggest erring on the side of caution.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes">&nbsp; </span>If you own one of the <b><a href="http://www.toyota.com/recall/">affected models</a></b>

the engine racing out of contro</a></b><a href="http://www.caranddriver.com/features/09q4/how_to_deal_with_unintended_acceleration-tech_dept">l</a>.</p>

<p class="MsoNormal">The larger issue this whole episode brings to mind is how an
average owner can find out whether their car--regardless of the make or model--is
the subject of a recall.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes">&nbsp;
</span>Fortunately, the nice folks at the National Highway Traffic Safety
Administration have put together a handy <b><a href="http://www.recalls.gov/nhtsa.html">website that offers details on all
current recalls</a></b>.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes">&nbsp; </span><b>Even if you're
not a Toyota owner, we'd encourage you to check it out--you might be surprised
what you'll find.</b></p>

don't have the space to give you the complete rundown of everything we saw at
the humongous Detroit show's press preview days, here's a look at a few of the

should give the legendary BMW M3 a run for its money.<o:p></o:p></p>

<p class="MsoNormal"><b>As we get ready to ring in the new year, experts everywhere
are making predictions for the 12 months ahead.&nbsp; Well, here's ours: 2010 looks to be shaping up as a great
year for new car shoppers.</b></p>

<p class="MsoNormal">With the U.S. economy showing signs of recovery and banks
promising to increase their consumer lending, the biggest stumbling blocks to
new car ownership should be removed.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes">&nbsp;
</span>The fact that a whole bunch of really cool new models are scheduled to
start arriving on dealers' lots, well, that doesn't hurt either.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes">&nbsp;&nbsp; </span></p>

<p class="MsoNormal">We've driven some of the ten new models spotlighted below,
and found them a remarkably likable bunch. And we know enough about the rest to
say we're definitely looking forward to taking our turn behind their steering
wheels.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes">&nbsp; </span></p>

<p class="MsoNormal">With all that in mind, here's our list of <b>Top 10 New Models
For The New Year</b>:</p>

<p class="MsoNormal"><b><a href="http://www.acura.com/ModelLanding.aspx?model=ZDX">Acura ZDX</a></b></p>

<p class="MsoNormal">Need something more practical than a sedan but don't want to

luxury crossover may be just the ticket.</p>

<p class="MsoNormal"><b><a href="http://www.audiusa.com/us/brand/en/exp/progress/Upcoming_Models/new_a8.html">Audi A8</a></b></p>

<p class="MsoNormal">Audi's full-size luxury flagship has long been a favorite
and we only expect that infatuation to grow once we get to drive this new
version late next year.</p>

<p class="MsoNormal">If anything can erase this luxury brand's reputation for
fuddy-duddy styling, this sleek--dare we say <i>sexy</i>--new midsize sedan ought to do
the trick.</p>

<p class="MsoNormal"><b><a href="http://www.cadillac.com/vehicles/2010/ctsSportWagon/overview.do">Cadillac CTS Sport Wagon</a></b></p>

<p class="MsoNormal">Take handling on par with European sports sedans, add the
convenience of a station wagon body and you have an ideal balance of
performance and practicality.</p><p class="MsoNormal"></p><p class="MsoNormal" style="margin-top: 0px; margin-right: 0px; margin-bottom: 0.75em; margin-left: 0px; border-top-width: 0px; border-right-width: 0px; border-bottom-width: 0px; border-left-width: 0px; border-style: initial; border-color: initial; padding-top: 0px; padding-right: 0px; padding-bottom: 0px; padding-left: 0px; font-size: 1em; font-weight: normal; "><b><a href="http://www.fordvehicles.com/cars/taurus/">Ford Taurus SHO</a></b></p><p class="MsoNormal" style="margin-top: 0px; margin-right: 0px; margin-bottom: 0.75em; margin-left: 0px; border-top-width: 0px; border-right-width: 0px; border-bottom-width: 0px; border-left-width: 0px; border-style: initial; border-color: initial; padding-top: 0px; padding-right: 0px; padding-bottom: 0px; padding-left: 0px; font-size: 1em; font-weight: normal; ">The roomy interior and huge trunk makes it practical; the SHO's 365-horsepower twin-turbo V-6 makes it way more fun than a family sedan has a right to be.</p><p class="MsoNormal" style="margin-top: 0px; margin-right: 0px; margin-bottom: 0.75em; margin-left: 0px; border-top-width: 0px; border-right-width: 0px; border-bottom-width: 0px; border-left-width: 0px; border-style: initial; border-color: initial; padding-top: 0px; padding-right: 0px; padding-bottom: 0px; padding-left: 0px; font-size: 1em; font-weight: normal; "></p><p class="MsoNormal" style="margin-top: 0px; margin-right: 0px; margin-bottom: 0.75em; margin-left: 0px; border-top-width: 0px; border-right-width: 0px; border-bottom-width: 0px; border-left-width: 0px; border-style: initial; border-color: initial; padding-top: 0px; padding-right: 0px; padding-bottom: 0px; padding-left: 0px; font-size: 1em; font-weight: normal; "><b><a href="http://automobiles.honda.com/cr-z/">Honda CR-Z</a></b></p><p class="MsoNormal" style="margin-top: 0px; margin-right: 0px; margin-bottom: 0.75em; margin-left: 0px; border-top-width: 0px; border-right-width: 0px; border-bottom-width: 0px; border-left-width: 0px; border-style: initial; border-color: initial; padding-top: 0px; padding-right: 0px; padding-bottom: 0px; padding-left: 0px; font-size: 1em; font-weight: normal; ">The problem with most hybrids is that they're B-O-R-I-N-G.<span>&nbsp;&nbsp;</span>This new two-seater looks like it'll be an exception: A rare green machine that's actually fun to drive.</p><p></p><p></p>

<p class="MsoNormal"><b>We love surprises.&nbsp;
And we couldn't have been more surprised when we got to drive the new
<a href="http://www.toyota.com/upcoming-vehicles/">2011 Toyota Sienna</a> minivan last week.</b></p>

<p class="MsoNormal">Now,
we know what you're thinking.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes">&nbsp; </span>What
could possibly be surprising in <a href="http://www.drivertv.com/#/minivans-category.html">minivan-land</a>?<span style="mso-spacerun:
yes">&nbsp; </span>Well, with a chief engineer who is a hardcore driving
enthusiast guiding this third-generation Sienna's design and execution, the
answer is plenty.</p>

<p class="MsoNormal">For
one thing, this new Sienna is one of the best-looking family vehicles to roll
off an assembly line in recent memory.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes">&nbsp;
</span>The interior also has a few surprises in store, including available
second-row lounge seats with reclining backs and extendable foot rests that
offer Barcalounger-like comfort.</p>

<p class="MsoNormal">The
biggest news here, however, is the introduction of a <b>sporty SE model</b>&nbsp;(pictured above) that
combines performance upgrades like a firmer suspension and lowered ride height
with styling tweaks including swoopier body work and 19-inch alloy wheels that make
it downright sexy by minivan standards.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes">&nbsp;
</span>The<span style="mso-spacerun: yes">&nbsp; </span>driving experience is
equally appealing, with handling on par with some mainstream sports sedans.</p>

<p class="MsoNormal">Ultimately,
the new Sienna, which goes on sale early next year, looks like one of the best new ways to get seven or eight
passengers down the road to come along in years.<span style="mso-spacerun:
yes">&nbsp; </span><b>For a closer look at a few of our other favorite people

<p class="MsoNormal"><b>Even if you're not someone who spends a lot of time thinking
about cars, it's a pretty safe bet you can probably name the four or five most
common automotive categories (sedans, for example), and maybe even the most
popular models within those segments.</b><span style="mso-spacerun: yes">&nbsp;
</span>But what if traditional four-doors like the <b><a href="http://www.drivertv.com/#/honda/accord.html">Honda Accord</a></b> or <b><a href="http://www.drivertv.com/#/toyota/camry.html">Toyota Camry</a></b>
don't quite meet your needs?<span style="mso-spacerun: yes">&nbsp; </span>Then,
friends, it's time to dig a little deeper to discover the growing number of new
models designed to fill in the gaps between these familiar body styles.</p>

<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="mso-tab-count:1">&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; </span>Some
of the earliest examples, like the <b><a href="http://www.drivertv.com/#/ford/explorer-sport-trac.html">Ford Explorer Sport Tra</a>c</b> and<a href="http://www.drivertv.com/#/chevrolet/avalanche.html"> </a><b><a href="http://www.drivertv.com/#/chevrolet/avalanche.html">Chevrolet
Avalanch</a>e</b>, have actually been around long enough to become almost
commonplace.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes">&nbsp; </span>But the pace of this
cross-pollination has accelerated in the last couple of years, with the<span style="mso-spacerun: yes">&nbsp; </span>introduction of lesser known models
like Mazda's <b><a href="http://www.drivertv.com/#/mazda/mazda5.html">Mazda5</a></b> mini-minivan and the curious <b><a href="http://www.drivertv.com/#/kia/rondo.html">Kia Rondo</a></b> that rolls elements
of crossovers, minivans, and station wagons into a compact package that simply
defies easy categorization.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes">&nbsp; </span>Add
models like the part-sports car/part-SUV <b><a href="http://www.drivertv.com/#/bmw/x6.html">BMW X6</a></b> and figuring out how to
describe them can get downright difficult.</p>

<p class="MsoNormal">And yet, our experience with these groundbreaking new
designs tells us that out this confusion can come vehicles that are more
ideally suited to many people's lives than anything that's gone before.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes">&nbsp; </span>Even if we don't know quite what to
call them.</p>

<p class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: left;"><b>With Halloween behind us and Thanksgiving just around the
corner, it's only a matter of time before the snowflakes begin to fly.&nbsp; But driving on snow- or ice-covered
roads doesn't have to be a white-knuckle experience if you're driving a vehicle
that's properly prepared.</b></p>

<p class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: left;">By far the most important winter prep item on your agenda
should be swapping your car's regular rubber for a set of dedicated <b><a href="http://www.tirerack.com/winter/tech/techpage.jsp?techid=120">snow
tires</a></b>.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes">&nbsp;</span><b> </b>To understand why, it helps
to think of the all-season tires your car came with as a pair of sneakers--while
you could wear them all winter long, they're not going to give you the same
non-slip grip in the snow as a good pair of boots.<span style="mso-spacerun:
yes">&nbsp; </span></p>

<p class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: left;">Even if your car has high-tech features like
stability/traction control and antilock brakes, it's important not to let these
safety gizmos give you a false sense of security.<span style="mso-spacerun:
yes">&nbsp; </span>Because these systems are only as good as the traction they
have to work with it's important to put snow tires on all four corners, since
being able to turn and stop effectively are at least as important as being able
to get the car rolling without spinning your drive wheels.</p>

<p class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: left;">If you're concerned your current ride might leave you
stranded this winter, you might want to consider replacing it with a new
all-wheel-drive or four-wheel-drive model.<span style="mso-spacerun:
