Need For Speed

While we certainly don't condone speeding, we also understand the temptation to simply mash down on the accelerator pedal and hold it there until the scenery begins to blur.

If you share this need for speed, please don't indulge it on public roads.  Better to let loose in a place designed for supra-legal speeds, like western Utah's legendary Bonneville Salt Flats. Or the soon-to-be-infamous Texas Mile.

This airport runway located in the south Texas town of Goliad offers ordinary folks the chance to see just what their shiny new ride--two-wheeled or four--will do over a mile-long course.  You can read more details on entry requirements and the like here, but honestly, their motto tells you everything you really need to know:  3 Days, 1 Mile, No Speed Limit.

Which got us to daydreaming on what cars we'd most like to run WFO at the Texas Mile.  To see what we decided, check out the following DriverTV "virtual showroom experience" videos:

BMW M3

Dodge Challenger SRT-8

Ferrari F430

Ford Shelby GT500

Lamborghini Gallardo
