Bang-For-The-Buck

The cash-for-clunkers rebates may be history, but that doesn't mean there aren't still some great values out there.

In fact, we've driven two new models in recent weeks that we think deliver a level of bang-for-the-buck that's nothing short of outstanding.  Topping that list is the new MazdaSpeed3, which combines aggressive sports car styling with the everyday practicality of a compact wagon.  The best part is that this car is much more than just another tarted-up poser, thanks to a 263-horsepower turbocharged motor and beefed-up suspension and brake components that deliver racetrack-worthy performance.

Then there's the all-new Nissan 370Z Roadster, which is now blessed with both head-turning sheetmetal and a much more upscale interior.  The real story, however, is what's underneath, including a significantly stronger and lighter body structure and suspension  for improved handling and a larger, more powerful 332-horsepower engine that delivers true sports car performance for a jaw-dropping $20,000 less than the Porsche Boxster S.
