Know what I hate most about winter? The way it's dark when I get into the office in the morning and just as dark by the time I leave. And now some gloomy pundits would have you believe that the absence of eight major automakers has cast a shadow on winter's one bright spot, the annual media circus they call the North American International Auto Show.
Ah, but don't you believe it. I still expect to see some exciting stuff during next week's NAIAS media preview. Topping that list in my mind is an all-new version of BMW's sexy Z4 roadster, which gets much sleeker styling and the grin-inducing 300-horsepower, 3.0-liter twin-turbocharged six-cylinder engine that we fell in love with in both the 3-Series Convertible and the 1-Series Coupe. I'm also looking forward to getting a better look at Mazda's new Mazda3 wagon, a car that's long been one of my favorite compacts.
You'll find a complete rundown on all the new models scheduled to take the stage at the Motor City's annual automotive extravaganza here.
